Decision No. 10/2009
IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by CAMERON RAWIRI TAMA FINLAYSON pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge E W Unwin
Member: Dr J Horn
FINAL DECISION
In decision LLA PH 626/2008, following a public hearing at Queenstown on 23 April 2008, we adjourned an application by Cameron Rawiri Tama Finlayson for a General Manager’s Certificate for six months.
The Police had opposed the application on the basis of convictions incurred by Mr Finlayson for offensive behaviour and resisting the Police. The offending occurred as a direct result of Mr Cameron’s excessive alcohol intake. We adopted our commonly accepted approach of requiring a minimum offence-free period to elapse before we would be prepared to grant the application.
The Police have advised our Secretary that there have been no further matters of concern brought to their attention during the period of adjournment, and opposition to the application is now withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 12th day of January 2009
