ORAL DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY

[1] This is an application by Jade Evelyn Tarawa for a General Manager's Certificate. The application was filed with the Franklin District Licensing Agency on 17 June 2008. It was accompanied by the requisite Licence Controller Qualification.
[2] At that time Ms Tarawa was apparently receiving some training as a duty manager on the North Shore, although she intended to use her certificate in a local bar. The application had only one reference and no written support from the employer. Accordingly she was written to and asked to supply further material, including evidence of her experience within the industry.
[3] The applicant called and discussed the matter with the District Licensing Agency Inspector and the reasons for requiring the information were explained. The information has never been supplied. Indeed, there has been no further contact with the applicant, and accordingly, no opportunity to interview her. As a result there is no proof that the applicant has current employment within the industry, or the requisite experience.
[4] Finally, Ms Tarawa failed to appear in support of her application and no explanation was received for her non-appearance. In those circumstances we draw the inference that she is no longer interested in pursuing her application. In summary she has been unable to satisfy us as to the criteria set out in s.121 of the Act, and the application is refused.
