Decision No.327/2010
IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by AIMEE
LOUISE JONES pursuant to
s.123 of the Act
for renewal of a
General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge J D Hole
Member: Dr
J Horn
DECISION
We have before us an application by Aimee Louise Jones for renewal of her General Manager’s Certificate. The application was lodged with the Wellington District Licensing Agency in December 2009.
That same month, an application for suspension of Ms Jones’ certificate was considered at a public hearing of this Authority. The application was based on numerous charges that had been laid against Ms Jones, regarding theft from her employer in 2006. However, most of the charges were eventually withdrawn.
Because of the time that had elapsed and the process that Ms Jones had already endured, we declined to order any suspension of the certificate. However, Ms Jones indicated that she would agree to a shortened period of renewal of the certificate, and that satisfied the parties involved (see NZLLA PH 1454/2009). We requested “that the file be sent to the Authority so that the appropriate reduced renewal period may be imposed”.
The Authority’s Secretary has now received the file and accordingly the certificate will be renewed, but for the lesser period of 12 months only. This means that it will next fall due for renewal on 9 December 2010. A notice of renewal is attached to this decision.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 7th day of April 2010
