IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by SUMAN SHARMA pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Quorum: Mr P M McHaffie
Ms J D Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Suman Sharma for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The District Licensing Agency Inspector opposed the application because, despite several requests, the applicant did not attend upon the Inspector for an interview to gauge her knowledge and understanding of the Act as it relates to the management of licensed premises. The matter was referred to the Authority for determination.
The Inspector has now provided our Secretary with a supplementary report revealing that Ms Sharman has been interviewed. She has demonstrated a satisfactory knowledge of the Act and opposition to the application is withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 21st day of April 2011
