IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by STEPHEN RON HAMPSON-TINDALE pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge J D Hole
Member: Ms J D Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Stephen Ron Hampson-Tindale for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police opposed the application because the applicant had declared a conviction for a liquor related traffic offence, although this was of some antiquity. The Police were also not satisfied that the applicant had sufficient recent experience in the management of licensed premises. The District Licensing Agency referred the application to the Authority for determination.
The applicant has now provided our Secretary with a reference from his employer and Police opposition has been withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 6TH day of May 2011
