IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by JOSEPH ANTHONYSAMY pursuant to s.123 of the Act for renewal of a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Quorum: Mr P M McHaffie
Ms J D Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Joseph Anthonysamy for renewal of a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police and District Licensing Agency Inspector opposed the application because Mr Anthonysamy had incurred a conviction for a liquor related driving offence that occurred in November 2008.
The regulatory authorities are aware of our general approach that there should be an offence-free period of at least two years following an incident of this nature. That period of time has now elapsed and no further concerns have been raised. Opposition is now withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.126 of the Act and we grant the application. A notice of renewal is attached to this decision.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 25TH day of May 2011
