Constable T Kopyl – NZ Police – in opposition

DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY

[1] This is an application by Darren Sam Masters pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager's Certificate.

[2] The application was filed with the District Licensing Agency on 16 March 2010. At that time Mr Masters was employed as a cabin manager/flight attendant for Jet Star Airlines. The application was supported with a copy of the required Licence Controller Qualification together with an employer’s reference from the airline.

[3] The application was opposed by the Police and the Inspector due to Mr Masters having incurred a conviction for driving with excess blood alcohol content. The matter was accordingly set down to be determined by the Authority at a public hearing.

[4] There was however, no appearance by Mr Masters. We are therefore unable to be satisfied as to the criteria set out in s.121 of the Act. We also make the reasonable assumption that Mr Masters is no longer interested in pursuing his application given his non appearance. In all the circumstances the application is refused.

DATED at WELLINGTON this 26TH day of May 2011
