IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by THOMAS GRAHAM GRIGGS pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge J D Hole
Member: Dr J Horn
DECISION
We have before us an application by Thomas Graham Griggs for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police opposed the application because Mr Griggs had incurred a conviction for a liquor related traffic offence in 2007. He was later trespassed from licensed premises following an incident of disorderly behaviour in 2008. The application was referred to the Authority for determination at a public hearing.
Given the lapse of time since his conviction opposition has now been withdrawn.
Mr Griggs has provided an undertaking that initially he will only execute his authority to manage licensed premises known as “Rose & Crown”. That undertaking will be annotated on his certificate. No such undertaking is infinite and in due course Mr Griggs may seek a release from the undertaking at the discretion of the District Licensing Agency or this Authority.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 21ST day of July 2011
