New Zealand Liquor Licensing Authority |
Last Updated: 29 August 2011
IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by SARAL SINGH pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge J D Hole
Member: Ms J D Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Saral Singh for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police opposed the application because Mr Singh had little experience in the operation or management of licensed premises, he had not been appointed as a temporary or acting manager up to the time of his application and he had a work visa that was due to expire within three months of his application having been filed. As a consequence the application was referred to the Authority for determination at a public hearing.
Our Secretary has recently received advice that Mr Singh now has regular
employment in licensed premises. Additionally a supplementary
Police report
reveals that he has been granted permanent residence by Immigration New
Zealand.
Accordingly, opposition to the application is withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 29th day of July 2011
