IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by HARINDERJEET SINGH pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Chairman: District Court Judge J D Hole
Member: Ms J D
Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Harinderjeet Singh for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police opposed the application because there were issues in relation Mr Singh’s immigration status, and the Police had misgivings about his level of experience in the management of licensed premises. The immigration matter was resolved but the opposition in relation to lack of experience remained. The District Licensing Agency referred the matter to the Authority for determination at a public hearing.
Mr Singh has provided an undertaking that he will only utilise his manager’s certificate in premises known as “Pacific Liquor” at Glen Innes for the first six months of its tenure. The Police have withdrawn their opposition.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 30TH day of August 2011
