DECISION
We have before us an application by Constable M R L Arnold of Christchurch Police dated 20 September 2012, for suspension of a General Manager’s Certificate held by Sarah Elizabeth Gilleece.
The ground for the application is that the conduct of the manager has been such as to show that she is not a suitable person to hold the certificate.
On Monday 27 August 2012 Ms Gilleece was at “Farmers”, Riccarton Mall, Christchurch. She selected an item of cosmetic which she placed in her pocket. She then left the store without attempting to pay for the item.
Ms Gilleece was arrested for shoplifting and subsequently released with a pre-charge Police warning. She was not required to appear in Court.
The respondent does not dispute the ground for the application and she has agreed to suspension of her manager’s certificate. Accordingly, we make the following order by consent:
General Manager’s Certificate number GM/060/135/2012, issued to Sarah Elizabeth Gilleece, is suspended for 14 days from Monday 5 November 2012.
The respondent has further agreed to a recommendation that when her manager’s certificate falls due for renewal in April 2013 it will be referred to the Authority for renewal for a truncated period of 12 months.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 11th day of October 2012
