IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by SANDEEP SAINI pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Members: Mr D E Major
Mr R S Miller
DECISION
We have before us an application by Sandeep Saini for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The application was filed on 25 July 2012. The Police and District Licensing Agency Inspector opposed the application because Mr Saini had little experience in the management of licensed premises. Additionally his work visa was only valid until June 2012 and he had an active driving charge before the Courts. The Agency recommended that the matter be determined at a public hearing.
The Police have now advised our Secretary that the applicant has been issued a further work visa until October 2013. Mr Saini’s employer has provided a letter in support of his application and the traffic charges have been resolved. Opposition is now withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 12TH day of November 2012
