IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
AND
IN THE MATTER of an application by RAFE MARTIN TYNDALL HAMPSON pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate
BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY
Quorum: Mr P M McHaffie
Ms J D Moorhead
DECISION
We have before us an application by Rafe Martin Tyndall Hampson for a General Manager’s Certificate.
The Police do not oppose the application. The District Licensing Agency Inspector reports that Mr Hampson displayed a satisfactory knowledge and understanding of the Act at interview. However, she opposed the grant of the certificate because of the applicant’s lack of experience in the management of licensed premises. The matter was referred to the Authority for determination.
Mr Hampson has now been employed in the liquor industry for some months and the Inspector is satisfied that he has gained the requisite experience. Opposition is consequently withdrawn.
We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 6th day of March 2012
