DOG CONTROL ACT 1996 - SECT 23A
Territorial authority may require probationary owner to undertake training
1 If a person is classified as a probationary owner under section 21 , the
territorial authority may require the person to undertake, at his or her own
expense, a dog owner education programme or a dog obedience course (or both)
approved by the territorial authority.
2 Every person commits an offence and
is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $3,000 who, without reasonable
excuse, fails to comply with a requirement under subsection (1).
