1 Every person commits an offence who applies for or obtains a maritime document while disqualified by an order of a court from obtaining such a document and any such document so obtained shall be of no effect.
2 Every person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction,—a) in the case of an individual, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding $2,000:b) in the case of a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding $20,000;—and the court may order the person to be disqualified from holding or obtaining a maritime document for such period not exceeding 12 months as the court thinks fit.
