1 The Minister must prepare and determine a New Zealand Health Strategy.
2 The purpose of the New Zealand Health Strategy is to provide a framework to guide health entities in protecting, promoting, and improving people’s health and wellbeing.
3 The New Zealand Health Strategy must—a) contain an assessment of the current state of health outcomes and health sector performance; andb) contain an assessment of the medium and long-term trends and risks that will affect health outcomes and health sector performance in the next 5 to 10 years; andc) set out opportunities and priorities for improving the health sector over at least the next 5 to 10 years, including workforce development.
4 Subsection (3) does not limit what may be included in the New Zealand Health Strategy.
