Protocols subject to rights, functions, and duties
24 Protocols subject to rights, functions, and duties
A protocol does not restrict— a) the ability of the Crown to exercise its
powers and perform its functions and duties in accordance with the law and
Government policy, for example, the ability— i) to introduce legislation and
change Government policy; and
ii) to interact with or consult a person that
the Crown considers appropriate, including any iwi, hapū, marae, whānau, or
other representative of tangata whenua; or
b) the responsibilities of the
responsible Minister or a department of State; or
c) the legal rights of
Whakatōhea or a representative entity.
