Motor Omnibus Services (Amendment) Ordinance 1985

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Motor Omnibus Services Ordinance 1955.

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Omnibus Services (Amendment) Ordinance 1985.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Motor Omnibus Services Ordinance 1955.2

Daily tickets

3. Section 4BA of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (4) “A person” and substituting “Subject to sub-section 4CD (2), a person”.

Weekly tickets

4. Section 4BB of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) “A person” and substituting “Subject to sub-section 4CD (2), a person”.

Monthly tickets

5. Section 4C of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) “A person” and substituting “Subject to sub-section 4CD (2), a person”.

Books of tickets

6. Section 4CA of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (4) “sub-section (5),” and substituting “sub-sections (5) and 4CD (2),”.

Quarterly tickets

7. Section 4CB of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) “A person” and substituting “Subject to sub-section 4CD (2), a person”.

8. After section 4CC of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:

Special services

“4CD. (1) The Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, determine the fare payable by a person, or by a person included in a specified class of persons, for travel on a journey on a specified motor omnibus service.

“(2) Sub-sections 4BA (4), 4BB (3), 4C (3), 4CA (4) and 4CB (3) do not apply in relation to travel on a motor omnibus service specified in a notice under sub-section (1).”.
