Standard Time and Summer Time (Amendment) Ordinance 1986

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Standard Time and Summer Time Ordinance 1972

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Standard Time and Summer Time (Amendment) Ordinance 1986.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Standard Time and Summer Time Ordinance 1972.2

Interpretation

3. Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a) by inserting “calendar” before “year” (wherever occurring) in the definition of “daylight saving period”; and

(b) by omitting the definition of “year”.

4. Section 7 of the Principal Ordinance is repealed and the following section substituted:

Extended daylight saving period for 1986

“7. This Ordinance has effect in relation to the period commencing at the hour of 2 o’clock in the morning by the mean time of the one hundred and fiftieth meridian of longitude east of Greenwich, England, on 2 March 1986 and ending at the hour of 2 o’clock in the morning by the mean time of that meridian on 16 March 1986 as if the reference in the definition of ‘daylight saving period’ in section 3 to the first Sunday in the month of March were a reference to the third Sunday in that month.”.
