INHERITANCE ACT OF 1901

TABLE OF PROVISIONS

           Long Title

   1.      Name of Act
   2.      Repeal
   3.      Definitions
   4.      Descent to be traced from the purchaser, but person last entitled to be considered to be the purchaser unless the contrary is proved
   5.      In case of total failure of heirs of purchaser descent to be traced from person last entitled
   6.      Heir entitled under a will shall take as devisee
   7.      Limitation to grantor or grantor's heirs creates an estate by purchase
   8.      Where heirs take by purchase under limitations to the heirs of their ancestor, descent to be traced as if the ancestor had been the purchaser
   9.      Brothers etc to trace descent through parent
   10.     Lineal ancestor preferred to collaterals claiming through that ancestor
   11.     Male line to be preferred
   12.     Mother of more remote to be preferred to mother of less remote male ancestor
   13.     Half blood to inherit
   14.     Extent of Act
   15.     Limitations made before the 1 January 1837, to the heirs of a person then living shall take effect as if the Act had not been passed
   16.     Descent through person attainted
