TRANSPORT OPERATIONS (MARINE SAFETY) ACT 1994 - SECT 186
Unlawful interference with Queensland regulated ship
(1) A person must not unlawfully interfere with a Queensland regulated ship.
Penalty— Maximum penalty—500 penalty units or imprisonment for 1
year.
(2) However, if the contravention of subsection (1) causes the death
of, or grievous bodily harm to, another person, the person commits an
indictable offence and is liable to a maximum penalty of 5,000 penalty units
or imprisonment for 2 years.
(3) A person unlawfully interferes with a
Queensland regulated ship if the person wilfully, and without authority,
justification or excuse, detrimentally interferes with the safe operation of
the ship. Example of detrimental interference— A person removes, alters or
damages the ship’s safety equipment.
