Grant, amendment and renewal of licences
62 Grant, amendment and renewal of licences
(1) The grant, amendment or renewal of a licence may be applied for, and
granted or refused, as prescribed by regulation.
(2) A regulation may make
provision for licences to be granted, amended or renewed— (a) by the chief
executive or general manager; or
(b) by an entity accredited, under the
regulation, by the chief executive or general manager.
(3) Also, a regulation
may provide for either the chief executive or the general manager— (a) to
conduct examinations, or to approve an entity to conduct examinations, to
establish whether a person meets a requirement under a regulation; or
(b) to
approve an entity to conduct training programs about the operation of
Queensland regulated ships.
(4) Without limiting subsection (2) , a
regulation may provide for the following— (a) a marine licence indicator to
be in the form approved by the chief executive or general manager, including a
card on which information may be stored electronically;
(b) a PIN to be used
by the holder of a smartcard marine licence indicator as a security measure to
protect information stored electronically on the smartcard marine licence
indicator.
