26 Assessing impact of decisions about surface water

(1) The Source Rivers computer program’s simulation for the simulation period must be used—

(a) to assess, for section 25 , the consistency of a decision with the environmental flow objectives and the water allocation security objectives; and

(b) to assist the chief executive to decide flow conditions for water licences.

(2) If it is not practicable to use the Source Rivers computer program’s simulation, another assessment method approved by the chief executive may be used.

(3) The chief executive may approve an assessment method for subsection (2) if the chief executive is satisfied the method will accurately assess—

(a) for section 25 , the consistency of a decision with the environmental flow objectives and the water allocation security objectives; and

(b) the water plan outcomes for this plan.
