                   Animal Welfare Amendment Bill 2011

Clause 1   Title


Clause 2   Commencement
           This Act will commence on the day on which this Act receives Royal Assent.


Clause 3   Principal Act
           The Animal Welfare Act 1993 is the Principal Act amended by this Act.


Clause 4   Section 39 amended (Membership of the Animal Welfare Advisory
           Committee)
           Subsection (1)(b) is amended to allow the Secretary of the responsible
           Department in relation to the Animal Welfare Act 1993 to nominate a person to
           be a member of the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee.
           Subsection (1)(c) is amended to allow the Secretary of the responsible
           Department in relation to the Nature Conservation Act 2002 to nominate a
           person to be a member of the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee.
           Subsection (3A) is inserted to allow the Secretaries of the responsible
           Departments in relation to the Animal Welfare Act 1993, the Nature
           Conservation Act 2002 and the Police Service Act 2003 to nominate a deputy
           to the member nominated in paragraph (b), (c) and (d) of subsection (1).


Clause 5   Repeal of Act
           This Act is to be repealed 90 days after commencement.
