PENALTY UNITS AND OTHER PENALTIES AMENDMENT BILL 74 OF 2011

                         CLAUSE NOTES

   Penalty Units and Other Penalties Amendment Bill 2011

Clause 1: Short title

Clause 2: Provides for commencement on Royal Assent

Clause 3: Title of Principal Act

Clause 4:    Amends section 4A by
             inserting a new subsection (4A) which specifies that an
             order under subsection (3) is a statutory rule: and

             inserting a new subsection (7A) to retrospectively validate
             the increase of the value of a penalty unit to $130 for the
             year commencing on 1 July 2010 and the continuation of
             that value for the year commencing on 1 July 2011.

Clause 5:    Automatically repeals this Amendment Act after 90 days
