VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC (VEHICLE OPERATIONS) NOTICE 2009 (S.R. 2009, NO. 91) - REG 23

Conditions on exemption of certain pig trailers
The exemption under clause 22 is subject to the following conditions:
(a) the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, must not exceed 5 metres;
(b) the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, and the motor vehicle towing it must not exceed 25 metres in length;
(c) the vehicle used to tow the pig trailer must display headlights on low beam when used in daylight;
(d) if the trailer or combination is used in daylight, a red flag must be affixed to the rearmost point of its load;
(e) the pig trailer must display side markers and rear markers for night travel in accordance with clause 6 of Schedule 2 to the Vehicle Operations Regulations;
(f) if the pig trailer, inclusive of its load and the motor vehicle towing it, exceeds 22 metres in length, it must –
(i) display an oversize vehicle sign at the front and rear of the pig trailer; and
(ii) display warning lights when used at night;
(g) if the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, exceeds 3.7 metres, it must display an oversize vehicle sign at the front and rear of the combination.
