VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC (VEHICLE OPERATIONS) NOTICE 2009 (S.R. 2009, NO. 91) - REG 23
Conditions on exemption of certain pig trailers
The exemption under clause 22 is subject to the following conditions: (a)
the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, must not exceed 5
metres;
(b) the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, and the motor vehicle
towing it must not exceed 25 metres in length;
(c) the vehicle used to tow the
pig trailer must display headlights on low beam when used in daylight;
(d) if
the trailer or combination is used in daylight, a red flag must be affixed to
the rearmost point of its load;
(e) the pig trailer must display side markers
and rear markers for night travel in accordance with clause 6 of Schedule 2 to
the Vehicle Operations Regulations;
(f) if the pig trailer, inclusive of its
load and the motor vehicle towing it, exceeds 22 metres in length, it
must (i) display an oversize vehicle sign at the front and rear of
the pig trailer; and
(ii) display warning lights when used at night;
(g) if
the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, exceeds 3.7
metres, it must display an oversize vehicle sign at the front and rear of the
combination.
