PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES ACT 2003 - SECT 22

Election of chairperson and deputy chairperson

    (1)     A Joint Investigatory Committee must elect one of its members to be chairperson.

S. 22(1A) inserted by No. 53/2021 s. 19F, amended by No. 27/2024 s. 141.

    (1A)     The chairperson of the Pandemic Declaration Accountability and Oversight Committee, the Integrity and Oversight Committee or the Parliamentary Ethics Committee must not be a member of a political party forming the Government.

    (2)     A Joint Investigatory Committee may elect one of its members to be deputy chairperson.

    (3)     In the absence or illness of the chairperson, the deputy chairperson has all the powers, and may perform all the duties, of the chairperson.
