Seminar Details

Abstract

Trove is a discovery service developed by the National Library of Australia. We aggregate content from hundreds of libraries, archives, museums, universities, research organisations and government agencies and make it easier to find. We provide access to digitised resources including more than 130 million newspaper articles from 1803 onwards -- all online, all free. But Trove is also a community of passionate and engaged users, a platform for building new tools and collaborations, and the raw material for new forms of research and analysis. In this presentation I'll talk about current and future uses of Trove -- from discovery to digital humanities, and beyond.

Biographical Note

Dr Tim Sherratt is a digital historian and cultural data hacker. He's currently the manager of Trove at the National Library of Australia and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research at the University of Canberra. He's one of the organisers of THATCamp Canberra and a member of the committee of the Australasian Association for the Digital Humanities. You can find him online at discontents.com.au and @wragge.
