LEGISLATION ACT 2001 - SECT 216

Acting appointments must be in writing etc

    (1)     An acting appointment must be made, or evidenced, by writing (the  instrument of appointment ) signed by the appointer.

    (2)     If a law provides for a maximum or minimum period of appointment, the instrument of appointment must state the period for which the acting appointment is made.

Examples—stated appointment periods

1     1 year

2     until 31 December 2002 (a period of 9 months)
