LEGISLATION ACT 2001 - SECT 256

    (1)     This section applies if—

        (a)     a person uses an electronic or other device to keep a record of information; and

        (b)     the person is required under a law (however the law is expressed) to give the information, or a document containing the information, to an authority.

    (2)     The requirement obliges the person to give to the authority a document that accurately reproduces or contains the information in a form that can be understood by the authority.

    (3)     In this section:

"authority" means a court, tribunal or other entity.
