MENTAL HEALTH ACT 2015 - SECT 201

Mental health officers

    (1)     The chief psychiatrist may appoint a person as a mental health officer.

    (2)     A person is not eligible for appointment as a mental health officer unless the person is a nurse, nurse practitioner, psychologist, occupational therapist or social worker.

    (3)     In this section:

"occupational therapist" means a person registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (ACT)

to practise in the occupational therapy profession (other than as a student).

"psychologist "means a person registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (ACT)

to practise in the psychology profession (other than as a student).

"social worker" means a person with a social work qualification that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
