VICTIMS OF CRIME (FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) ACT 2016 - SECT 17

    (1)     In this Act:

"close family member", of a primary victim, means a person who is in 1 of the following relationships:

        (a)     the domestic partner of the primary victim;

        (b)     a parent, guardian or step-parent of the primary victim;

        (c)     a child or stepchild of the primary victim, or some other child of whom the primary victim is the guardian.

    (2)     In this section:

"guardian "does not include the director-general responsible for administering the Children and Young People Act 2008

or any other person who is a guardian because of the person's occupation of a statutory office, whether within the ACT or elsewhere.

Note     In addition to financial assistance, a person may also be eligible for a funeral expense payment.
