OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (GENERAL) REGULATION 2007 (NO 36 OF 2007) - REG 8

Meaning of reasonably practicable steps

    (1)     For this regulation, each of the following must be considered to work out what are reasonably practicable steps to eliminate or minimise a risk:

        (a)     the seriousness of the risk;

        (b)     the current state of knowledge about—

              (i)     the hazard giving rise to the risk and the risk itself; and

              (ii)     ways of eliminating or minimising the risk;

        (c)     the availability and suitability of ways to eliminate or minimise the risk;

        (d)     the cost of eliminating or minimising the risk.

    (2)     In this section:

"cost" includes burdens and disadvantages.
