ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION ACT 1999 - SECT 173
Surveys of cetaceans, listed threatened species etc. in
Commonwealth marine areas - (1)
- The Minister must prepare surveys that
identify, and state the extent of the range of:
- (a)
- cetaceans present in Commonwealth marine areas; and
- (b)
- the listed threatened species, listed threatened ecological communities,
listed migratory species and listed marine species in Commonwealth marine
areas.
- (2)
- A Commonwealth marine area must be covered by a survey:
- (a)
- within 10 years after the commencement of this Act; or
- (b)
- within 10 years after the area became a Commonwealth marine area;
whichever is later.
- (3)
- A Commonwealth agency that has an interest in a Commonwealth marine area
is to provide all reasonable assistance in connection with the preparation
under this section of a survey that is to cover the area.
