FISHING INDUSTRY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 1987 No. 174 of 1987 - SECT 47
Appointment of members
47. (1) The members of the Selection Committee shall be appointed by the
Minister.
(2) The Minister shall not appoint a person to be the member referred to in
paragraph 45 (1) (b) unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has
experience in fisheries administration or management at a senior level.
(3) The Minister shall not appoint a person to be the member referred to in
paragraph 45 (1) (c) unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has
experience in, and a broad knowledge of, fisheries research and development.
(4) Where the Minister is not satisfied that a person nominated by the
Australian Fisheries Council or National Fishing Industry Council should be
appointed as a member of the Selection Committee, the Minister may reject the
nomination and request the nomination of another person.
(5) The Minister shall not appoint a member of the Council as a member of the
Selection Committee.
(6) A person who has attained 65 years of age shall not be appointed as a
member.
(7) The appointment of a member is not invalid because of a defect or
irregularity in connection with the member's nomination or appointment.
