PUBLIC SERVICE ACTS AMENDMENT ACT 1982 No. 111, 1982 - SECT 79

79. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended-

(a) by omitting paragraph (a) of the definition of ''Department'' in
sub-section (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

''(a) any Department of the Australian Public Service (other than a Department
of the Australian Public Service that has been abolished or the name of which
has been altered) the name of which is specified, or deemed by virtue of
section 7A of the Public Service Act 1922 to be specified, in Schedule 2 to
that Act; or''; and

   (b)  by omitting the definition of ''Permanent Head'' in sub-section (1)
        and substituting the following definitions:

'' 'office of Permanent Head' means-

   (a)  an office (other than an office that has been abolished or the name of
        which has been altered) the name of which is specified, or deemed by
        virtue of sub-section 25 (1) of the Public Service Act 1922 to be
        specified, in Schedule 3 to that Act; or

   (b)  an office the holder of which has, under the Public Service Act 1922
        or another Act, the powers of or exercisable by a Permanent Head;

'' 'Permanent Head' means a person for the time being holding, or performing
the duties of, an office of Permanent Head;''.
