SEAFARERS REHABILITATION AND COMPENSATION ACT 1992 No. 234, 1992 - SECT 116

Disclosure of interests
116.(1) A member who has a direct or indirect pecuniary interest in a matter
being considered or about to be considered by the Authority must, as soon as
possible after the relevant facts have come to his or her knowledge, disclose
the nature of the interest at a meeting of the Authority.

(2) A disclosure must be recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the
Authority and the member must not, unless the Minister or the Authority
otherwise determines:

   (a)  be present during any deliberation of the Authority with respect to
        that matter; or

   (b)  take part in any decision of the Authority with respect to that
        matter.

(3) For the purpose of making a determination by the Authority under
subsection (2) in relation to a member who has made a disclosure, a member who
has a direct or indirect pecuniary interest in the matter to which the
disclosure relates must not:

   (a)  be present during any deliberation of the Authority for the purpose of
        making the determination; or

   (b)  take part in the making by the Authority of the determination.

(4) In this section:

"member" includes a person who is acting in the office of a member.
