This Part is about Safe Work Australia's strategic plan and operational plan. These plans impact on how it, and its CEO, perform their respective functions (see subsections 7(2) and 45(2)).

Safe Work Australia prepares drafts of the plans for the Ministerial Council to consider. Once the Ministerial Council approves the plans, they become final.

Division 2 deals with the strategic plan. That plan covers a period of 3 years. It sets out the outcomes that Safe Work Australia is to achieve in those 3 years and the strategies the body is to use to do so.

Division 3 deals with the operational plan. That plan covers a period of 1 year. It sets out the activities that Safe Work Australia is to undertake in that year.

Division 4 allows the Ministerial Council to direct Safe Work Australia to amend either of the final plans.
