1990 No. 443 AUSTUDY REGULATIONS - REG 29

Workload: (a) secondary students attending school
29. (1) A student attending a secondary school must study full-time.

(2) To be a full-time student, a student must undertake in any period the
amount of work that the school regards as a full-time amount for that period.

(3) A student cannot get AUSTUDY for a day on which he or she is away from
school if:

   (a)  the student is away from school because of reasons within his or her
        control or the control of his or her parents; 1 and

   (b)  the student has already been away from school for at least 5 days in
        the term for reasons within his or her control.

(4) A student cannot get AUSTUDY for the 14 days after a day for which he or
she cannot get AUSTUDY because of subregulation (3) (whether these days are in
the same term or not).

(5) The 14 days do not include a day to which subregulation (3) applies. Note
to regulation 29
1 "parent" is defined in subregulation 85 (2).
