1988 NO. 158 CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS - REG 73

Licences or certificates issued by authorities outside the Commonwealth
73. (1) Where any person who is the holder of a valid licence or certificate
issued by the competent authority in any other country satisfies the Authority
that the person has complied with the minimum conditions required under the
Convention, the Authority may grant an Australian licence or certificate
appropriate to the qualifications and experience of the person, subject to
such conditions and limitations and for such period as the Authority thinks
fit, or confer on the person's licence or certificate the same validity for
the purpose of acting as a member of the flight crew of an Australian aircraft
or operating aircraft radio apparatus in Australian territory as if it had
been granted under these Regulations.

(2) Notwithstanding subregulation (1), the Authority may refuse to recognise
for the purpose of flight within Australian territory, or for the purpose of
operating aircraft radio apparatus in Australian territory, a licence or
certificate issued to an Australian citizen by the competent authority in any
other country.
