CONSTITUTION ACT 1902 - SECT 49A
Demise of the Crown
(1) The holding of any office under the Crown shall not be affected nor shall
any fresh appointment thereto be rendered necessary by the
demise of the Crown.
(2) It shall not be necessary for the holder of any
office under the Crown who, before any demise of the Crown, has taken any oath
prescribed or provided for by any Act or law again to take that oath after any
such demise but, where that oath relates only to the then reigning Sovereign,
it shall be deemed to relate to the Sovereign for the time being.
(3) In this
section--
"demise of the Crown" includes a demise of the Crown by or on abdication.
