Vice-Chancellor
15 Vice-Chancellor
(1) The Board is to appoint a person (whether or not a member of the Board) to
be Vice-Chancellor of the University, and is to do so whenever a vacancy in
the office of Vice-Chancellor occurs.
(2) The Vice-Chancellor holds office
for such period, and on such conditions, as the Board determines.
(3) The
Vice-Chancellor-- (a) is the chief executive officer of the University and the
academic and administrative head of the University, and
(b) is to exercise
stewardship of the University on behalf of the Board, and
(c) has such other
functions as may be prescribed by the by-laws or determined, subject to the
by-laws, by the Board.
(4) The Vice-Chancellor may establish committees to
assist the Vice-Chancellor in the exercise of his or her functions under this
Act.
(5) The Vice-Chancellor is a member of every committee that is
established by the Board or the Vice-Chancellor.
(6) The by-laws may provide
that the position of Vice-Chancellor is to be referred to by a particular
title (instead of or in addition to the title of Vice-Chancellor) and the use
of that title has for all purposes the same effect as the use of the title of
Vice-Chancellor.
