WEAPONS PROHIBITION REGULATION 2017 - REG 28
Leaving Australia permit
28 Leaving Australia permit
(1) The Commissioner may, on application by a person who is about to leave
Australia, issue a prohibited weapons--leaving Australia permit that
authorises the person to possess a prohibited weapon to which the permit
relates.
(2) The Commissioner must not issue a prohibited weapons--leaving
Australia permit unless satisfied that the applicant is about to leave
Australia.
(3) A prohibited weapons--leaving Australia permit is subject to
the following conditions-- (a) the permit only authorises possession of the
prohibited weapon by having the weapon in the custody of an authorised weapons
dealer or customs authority,
(b) the permit remains in force, unless sooner
surrendered or revoked, until the expiration of 7 days from the date of its
issue.
(4) In this clause,
"customs authority" means a person exercising functions under the Customs Act
1901 of the Commonwealth.
