Northern Territory Consolidated Acts Northern Territory Consolidated Acts(1) The superintendent of a detention centre or a member of the staff of the centre may exercise the powers of a police officer to arrest and take into custody a detainee who has escaped, or is otherwise unlawfully absent, from a detention centre.
(2) A person exercising the powers of a police officer under subsection (1):
(a) has the obligations of a police officer under the Police Administration Act 1978 ; and
(b) has the same protection as a police officer under that Act.
