Northern Territory Numbered Acts Northern Territory Numbered Acts(1) A person must comply with the scientific use code and any applicable code of practice adopted or prescribed by regulation, if the person is:
(a) using an animal for scientific purposes; or
(b) allowing an animal to be used for scientific purposes.
(2) A person commits an offence if:
(a) the person intentionally:
(i) uses an animal for scientific purposes; or
(ii) allows an animal to be used for scientific purposes; and
(b) the use of the animal results in a contravention of the scientific use code or an applicable code of practice adopted or prescribed by regulation and the person is reckless in relation to that result.
Maximum penalty: 100 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months.
