ANIMAL MANAGEMENT (CATS AND DOGS) ACT 2008 - SECT 10
Who is a responsible person for a dog
(1) A person is a
"responsible person" for a dog if— (a) the person, or the person’s
employee acting within the scope of the employment, has immediate control or
custody of the dog; or
(b) the person is the parent or guardian of a child
who has immediate control or custody of the dog; or
(c) the person occupies
the place at which the dog is usually kept.
(2) However, a person is not a
responsible person for the dog— (a) merely because the person occupies a
place at which the dog is usually kept if someone else who is an adult and
lives at the place keeps the dog; or
(b) if the person has the control or
custody of or keeps the dog as an employee of someone else and the person is
acting within the scope of the employment.
