In any of the following cases, that is to say—
(a) if an application for leave to present an information against a person (the
"accused person" ) ends without the application being granted;
(b) if the accused person pleads to the information, and is not brought to trial within a year after filing the person’s plea;
(c) if a Crown Law Officer informs the court that the Crown Law Officer will not further proceed on the information;
(d) if the accused person is acquitted upon trial;the court, or the judge before whom the trial (if any) is had, may award costs to the accused person.
