HOSPITAL AND HEALTH BOARDS ACT 2011 - SECT 55
Function of health service auditors
(1) The function of a health service auditor is to conduct
health service audits.
(2) In this section—
"efficient price" means the cost of providing a particular health service as
stated by an entity established under an Act of the Commonwealth to provide
advice on the funding of health services.
"health service audit" means an audit— (a) to examine the accuracy of
performance data and other data reported by a Service or a manager of a
specialised health service; or
(b) to investigate the circumstances leading
to an inability of a Service or a specialised health service to meet any
performance measures applying to the Service or specialised health service; or
Example— an audit to investigate the circumstances leading to an inability
of a Service to provide services at an efficient price
(c) to investigate
any other matter to promote the effective and efficient use of available
resources in the delivery of public sector health services.
