HEAVY VEHICLE NATIONAL LAW (QUEENSLAND) - SECT 397
Driver must report malfunctioning odometer
397 Driver must report malfunctioning odometer
(1) This section applies if the driver of a fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle
becomes aware or has reason to suspect an odometer fitted to the vehicle is
malfunctioning or has malfunctioned.
(2) The driver must inform the following
persons of the matter within 2 business days— (a) each owner of the vehicle;
(b) the driver’s employer if the driver is an employed driver;
(c) each
operator of the vehicle.
Penalty— Maximum penalty—$3000.
(3)
Subsection (2) does not apply to the driver of a fatigue-regulated heavy
vehicle in relation to a malfunction of an odometer if another driver of the
vehicle has complied with the subsection in relation to the malfunction.
