(1) This section applies to a civilian participant who is or was authorised under this chapter to engage in ancillary conduct for an authorised controlled activity.
(2) The civilian participant does not incur civil liability or criminal liability for an act done, or omission made, in the honest belief that it was done or omitted to be done—(a) under an authority given for ancillary conduct for a controlled activity under section 244A ; and(b) if a police officer gives a lawful instruction to the participant—in accordance with the instruction.
(3) If subsection (2) prevents a civil liability attaching to a civilian participant, the liability attaches instead to the State.
